It was supposed to be a comeback fight but instead it ended what had been a rollercoaster career. It’s been over 20 years but the Tyson-Holyfield fight is still fresh in my mind. I’ll never forget when Tyson got a hold of Holyfield and bit his ear. There was Evander Holyfield, covered in blood with part of his ear missing, but the fight continued, until Mike bit his other ear. Tyson was disqualified and the fight was over.

Someone asked Holyfield about the fight, years later. He said, “I made 35 million dollars in nine minutes. If Mike Tyson was to do the same thing again to my other ear, I’ll take 35 million more.” For Holyfield it was a good fight. A champion isn’t afraid of a fight.

The Word of God calls us champions. In fact it goes a step further and says we are even more than that.

“No. In all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37 HCSB)

There is a term in boxing for a champion. They call them, UNDISPUTED. In other words, no one can question the fact that they are the champion. They are victorious. That’s you. You are more than victorious. You are the undisputed champion. No matter what you’re facing today, the Word of God calls you victorious!

There’s a story in Joshua 2. Israel is about to go in and take the promised land after 40 years of living in a place they were supposed to pass through. God planned to take them out of the wilderness but they wouldn’t believe God would give them victory, so they stayed there for 40 years. Now they were about to go in and take the promise.

Spies were sent out to check out a city called Jericho. They had to hide because the people found out they were there and so they wound up at the home of a prostitute named Rahab. Look at what Rahab tells the men,

“I know the Lord has given you this land and the terror of you has fallen on us and everyone who lives in this land is panicking because of you. For we heard how the Lord dried up the waters of the Red Sea…” (Joshua 2:8-10 HCSB)

That’s amazing. The people of God wouldn’t believe they would be victorious so they died in the wilderness. But a bunch of godless idol worshippers were living in fear every day for 40 years when they heard God brought Israel out of Egypt.

I don’t care what anyone tells you, it makes a difference what you believe. If you believe God you will be victorious, if you don’t believe you won’t be. The devil lives in fear that one day you will understand who you are and start believing God will give you the victory.

The spies went back and told everyone what they heard. They all started celebrating, until they found out what they had to do next. They had to march around the city for 7 days. I saw a cartoon of this once. It had a bunch of green peas sitting on the wall laughing at Israel as they marched. I can tell you there was no laughing going on. The enemy was shaking with fear. But the people had to keep walking.

When you believe God and start fighting the fight of faith you will have to walk even when you don’t see any results. You just keep walking. Maybe you feel like you’ve been walking for days and days. Maybe it feels like years. You just keep walking. You have to learn to walk in victory before you see the miracle.

See God wants to take you through. You might feel like you’re going through something. That’s good. You should go through. Don't stay in, go through. I know sometimes people feel frustrated when they’re going through a fight. Don’t get frustrated with the battle. Champions don’t mind the fight. For a champion a fight is a good thing. In fact in 1 Timothy 6:12 it says, “fight the good fight of faith.” He calls it a good fight. It’s good because it is producing something in your life.

I noticed something else with that story at Jericho. Joshua told the people,

“Do not shout or let your voice be heard. Don’t let one word come out of your mouth until the time I say, ‘Shout!’ (Joshua 6:10 HCSB)

If you can’t say what God says don’t say anything at all. Keep your mouth closed. Why is that important? Because the Word of God says from the abundance of your heart the mouth speaks. What comes out of your mouth is what you believe. Do you believe God is making you victorious? Are you more than a conqueror? Then say that.

Look again at Romans 8,

“What are we to say about these things? If God is for us who is against us?” (Romans 8:31)

I want to tell you, God is for you. There is no one that can come against you. There is nothing on this planet that can destroy you. God is for you!

“He did not even spare His own Son but offered Him up for us all; how will He not also with Him grant us everything?” (Romans 8:32)

God sent Jesus for you. Is there anything that He will keep from you?

“Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies. Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the One who died, but even more, has been raised; He is also at the right hand of God and intercedes for us.” (Romans 8:33-34)

Can you picture it? Who can accuse you? God has made you righteous! I can see God standing there asking, “Who’s going to accuse? Anyone? Anyone…”

In walks the devil. “I do! Do you know what they’ve done? Look at this list I have…”

Jesus steps down and takes the list, “Let me see that.” He takes a nail scarred hand and drags it across the paper before handing it to the Father.

God looks at it. He turns it over. “I can’t read this! All I can see is the blood of my Son, Jesus.”

That’s you! You are victorious because of what Jesus has done for you. You are right before God. No one can accuse you! No one can condemn you! Look at verse 37 again. How are you made more than victorious? It’s through Him who loved us. The love of God is giving you victory today in whatever you are facing. You are the UNDISPUTED champion because of Him who loved you.
