The Identity Journey
Who are we in Christ? This is an important, especially because people tend to not think very highly of themselves. But God thinks of us differently, and once we know what He thinks of us we should begin to think like Him. So who does GOD say we are?
1. God says we're His child. Ephesians 1:4&5 says:
“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure” (NLT)
There are people without fathers and mothers who feel unwanted but God has adopted us into his family. So we are CHILDREN of GOD.
2. God says we are his friend. John 15:15 says:
“I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.” (NLT)
There are some people today that say to themselves that they have no friends but God's Word says something different and we can be secure in that.
3. God says we're righteous. Romans 5:1 says:
“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.” (NLT)
When people say to themselves I’m unworthy because of this or I’m worthless because of that, God says you are righteous in my sight, you have been made right in my sight and you can now have peace because of what Jesus did for you.
4. God says we're His masterpiece. Ephesians 2:10 NLT says
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
We might look in the mirror not like what we see but God says we are His masterpiece. God has plans for you and has created you new in Jesus.
So next time you feel lonely, unloved, and unworthy, know that God says you are His child, you are His friend, you are righteous, and you are His masterpiece.
